6 May 2018 – Nancy’s Notes & Anecdotes

“Take chances, make mistakes. That’s how you grow. Pain nourishes your courage. You have to fail in order to practice being brave.” (Mary Tyler Moore)

I wanted to welcome you [back] to my Nancy’s Notes & Anecdotes where I hope you will find helpful tidbits of inspiration and insight that I stumble across on my journey. Please do share your thoughts with me – we learn and grow together and from each other as we collaborate to help women in business shine!

Meetings I’m attending:

Just Done It Meeting!I attended a Just Done It weekend retreat last Friday-Sunday. Talk about focused action and results! It’s ah-mazing how much you can get accomplished when you decide to focus on a result. It also helps to have a group of people cheering each other on and offering insight or a different perspective along the way to help you ‘stretch’ past your comfort zone!

How do you get things done? I have some ideas for you, if you’d like to hear them. Feel free to reach out, I’d love to hear from you.

Book I’m reading:

Spirit-Centered Relationships: Experiencing Greater Love and Harmony Through the Power of Presencing, by Gay Hendricks and Kathlyn Hendricks. This is an easy yet thought provoking and powerful book. It’s short and it’s been around for a while (there is a CD in the book, which was published in 2006)… That said, I really loved it because of its simple message. I am a fan of Gay Hendricks (The Big Leap is one of my favorites) and I’m on a mission to read all of his books. This one teaches how being present — embracing the power of “presencing”– can enhance your relationships. “We are convinced that spiritual growth is crucial to healthy relationships, and we are certain that healthy relationships are crucial to spiritual development.”

Ideas I’m Noodling…

Reduce. Reuse. How to reduce paper towel usage at my house. I recently became aware of the amount of paper towels I use on a daily basis. I’m embarrassed to say that my household far exceeds the 45 pounds of paper towels per household per year that we consume here in the US. I am committed to drastically reducing this and I’m making a public claim to that effect. The next you see me ask me how that’s going, ok? One small change will make a difference. (link to sustainability article).

I also had the pleasure of meeting a fascinating lady at our Just Done It weekend that I mentioned above – she specializes in Reduce. Reuse. Recycle mentality and brings sustainability and responsibility to reduce waste to a whole new level.

I’m following…

WSJ Secret of wealthy womenThe Wall Street Journal’s, Secrets of Wealthy Women podcast with Veronica Dagher. Money-savvy guests reveal insights for generating wealth and creating financial stability along with topics like: advancing your career, dealing with pay inequality and encountering resistance in the workplace.

Did you know that women stand to control billions of dollars in the coming years as part of a $30T wealth transfer in America.

I figured out Instagram…here is one of my first Insta’s, the underside of a fern. Yup, I’m a little late to the game, but better late than never (!), right?? I feel like I’ve moved into a space where I am documenting the world around me and the beauty in all things … it’s all around us! This new hobby is helping me remember to stop and smell the flowers once in a while, to slow down, just breathe and be grateful for this moment, for that is all we have guaranteed to us. My heart is full. I’d love to connect, my handle is: hercompany_by_nancy
