4 Nov 2018 – Nancy’s Notes & Anecdotes

Quote I’m pondering:

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.”
— John F. Kennedy

I’m so grateful I stumbled on this beautiful graphic. {Pin it for later}

On my reading list:

Actually re-reading Dare to Lead by Brene Brown. Yes, it’s that great a book. If you’ve been following me for a while you might know I’m the kind who writes up and down and sideways in colors and using highlighters to c~o~n~s~u~m~e a book …

Yes, I’ve made massive notes but have so much more to delve in … and, I’m very much looking forward to re-read it again and again because there is so much information and so many lessons to learn. Do you do that Natalie, –‘hop’ into a book to get a certain kind of comfort (like a meal or a song that always sets things right)?

I’m starting to believe that as we go through transitions in our personal or our professional lives, that the meaning of each lesson changes slightly, but in a very significant way … we’re just a little bit different than we were the first time round.

The concept that struck me the most as I read it this time around was “move the rock.” Takeaway: Make sure to help people shine and make a contribution. And, as leaders, make the tough decision of reassignment when needed.

Meetings this week:

Cameras are everywhere these days and they are more than just a way to spread smiles (which they certainly do for me as I scroll my feeds and see my friends and acquaintances’ smiling faces on my newsfeed … I hope we’re connected on social media … I am an oversharer (I’m told in a good way!) … on my personal Facebook channel especially with photographs of beautiful scenery! Isn’t nature grand?

I facilitated one of my favorite workshops called: Vision to Victories. The hands-on, done-with-you workshop is to help women in business achieve clarity, strategic visioning, confidence and creative thinking and hone in on their specific idea. I love it when I get to witness aha moments. I love it when breakthroughs happen. And I especially love it when I get to be a part of elegant transitions that we as women make –on average 50 times in our lives– (!?) – be they personal and/or professional.

Ideas I’m Noodling…

I’m noodling gratitude as I prepare to lead another group through the 30 Day Gratitude Challenge: Focused on Handwritten Notes – using good ol’ snail mail. Actually putting a stamp on the corner … pulling out your address book, taking out a favorite pen and then taking care to write the name of the recipient …

If you’d like to join my challenge (I promise, you’ll love it!) and because you’re on my list, you get early access and are guaranteed entry into the Nov 15th start date. Next class start date is Feb 10th. Let me know which one you’d like to join here.

Check out our FB page from the last challenge. Be prepared to see your life change. Be prepared to change other people’s lives.

  1. a desire for fun
  2. a desire for connection
  3. pen(s) and
  4. paper (stationary for the occasion)
  5. envelopes and
  6. addresses

You will receive prompts and resources every day that will help you reach out and show gratitude.

This {video} from the first challenge will give you an idea if it’s something you want to join in on … Hope you’ll take me up on my invitation and be a part of something special.

I’m following…

Master Storyteller Andy Henriquez

Andy’s diverse background and experiences give him a special ability to relate to all audiences. Andy was born to Haitian immigrants who came to this country in pursuit of the American Dream.

As I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know him over several years, I especially love his zest for life and what he calls ‘showing up’ … it makes perfect sense, he reminds us that if we don’t show up for our life, no one else will either. Hear it from Andy in this clip.

I’m Celebrating…

… the universe sending me messages and being open to receive them… I’d want to know too, messages like:

“You have been assigned this mountain to show others it can be moved.”
