Quote I’m pondering:
“In matters of style, swim with the current; in matters of principle, stand like a rock.”
— Thomas Jefferson
Book I’m devouring:
The Art of War for Women: Sun Tzu’s Ultimate Guide to Winning Without Confrontation by Chin-ning Chu. This book has been on my shelf for a couple of years. I’m so glad I finally read it! This book uses the wisdom of Sun Tzu from The Art of War, the most influential strategy book ever published. The original book is about applying strategies to determine the most efficient way of gaining victory with the least amount of conflict. Here the author offers interpretations of the principles from a feminine perspective with a goal of providing strategies for women to achieve goals and dreams by removing obstacles.
Takeaway: Start with understanding of who you are before you can claim victory. Strengths and weaknesses? Goals and fears? Unique talents? Identify and integrate these into the strategies you use to overcome obstacles. Result? Achieve your goals and dreams.
Meetings I’m attending:
You might know I hold regular office hours – well, I was so pleased that one of the ladies who attended the Vision Board workshop I did last week took full advantage! We had a great video call and came up with a plan for her to continue to take what she learned and how to best apply it to her business.
I really love these kinds of calls because they allow me to follow up and connect with people who participate in one of my training events – best of all, we get a chance to delve deeper and get creative.
AND technology makes it so easy. I use the Zoom platform because it allows for shared screens, video and audio taping and of course seeing someone as you are speaking to them really makes a big difference in the level and type of communication you have.
It put a big smile on my face when she proudly told me her vision board is hung in her office where she sees it… How are you envisioning your future? Vision boards are a powerful tool!
Ideas I’m Noodling…
Smiling and gratitude are contagious. Remember that and pass it on!
… artist Laüra Hollick. Everything about what she is doing resonates with me – so much so that I plan to attend one of her art / creation retreats. I subscribe to the beliefs that we are all artists of one kind or another and she creates a platform that makes actualizing that part of our beings possible.
Her mission is to help people embrace their creativity and ‘circulate love around the planet with pure inspiration.’ I just love this.
I highly recommend her TEDTalk: You Are the Art – worth the 16 mins!
… that in the past 15 months I have written and shared 62 long-form articles on LinkedIn. I’m humbled that the content has been well received and strive to answer and inform based on my encounters with women in business. I’m a learner and a teacher at heart, so it’s always a pleasure to research and write the articles – it’s a chunk of time in my schedule that I look forward to each week (well, not as much as writing my Notes & Anecdotes)!
How are you sharing your knowledge?
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the day ahead my friend!
