Government Contracting Part 2 of 3: Resources available

So you are interested in Government Contracting—CONGRATULATIONS!

This blog post will give you information about resources available to help you understand and start and/or manage the process.
The first thing you should know is that there are several organizations dedicated to helping more women access federal contracting opportunities:

  1. WBENC– http://www.wbenc.org/government/
  2. WIPP—Women Impacting Public Policy: wipp.org
  3. American Express OPEN: https://www.americanexpress.com/us/small-business/openforum/articles/bid-government-contracts-crucial-details-need-know/
  4. The US Small Business Administration: https://www.sba.gov/content/women-owned-small-business-program

WBENC has a list of current events related to government contracting that highlights workshops, conferences and seminars from the following groups:

  • Give me 5
  • SBA
  • SBDC
  • Vets 15
  • US Department of Energy

See the calendar here: http://www.wbenc.org/calendar-government-2/

The other organizations (WIPP, American Express OPEN and the SBA) also have calendars of events that you should check out.

The key is to do your homework! The information is out there BUT if you find yourself overwhelmed we can help with that too—contact the office and we will give you names of WBEs whose business it is to help you get involved with the Federal Government.

Stay tuned for part 3 of this series: Relationship building and how that can help you access and land federal contracts.
